Last updated: October 5, 2026
1. Introduction
BBoxProbe ("us", "we", or "our") operates the bboxprobe.com and bbox.to websites (hereinafter referred to as "Service").
BBoxProbe is operated by a self-employed sole proprietor, who is the data controller responsible for your data. You can reach us at office@bboxprobe.com.
Our Privacy Policy governs your visit to bboxprobe.com and bbox.to, and explains how we collect, safeguard and disclose information that results from your use of our Service.
We use your data to provide and improve Service. By using Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, the terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions.
2. Definitions
SERVICE means the bboxprobe.com and bbox.to websites operated by BBoxProbe.
PERSONAL DATA means data about a living individual who can be identified from those data (or from those and other information either in our possession or likely to come into our possession).
USAGE DATA is data collected automatically either generated by the use of Service or from Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).
COOKIES are small files stored on your device (computer or mobile device).
DATA CONTROLLER means a natural or legal person who (either alone or jointly or in common with other persons) determines the purposes for which and the manner in which any personal data are, or are to be, processed. For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, the operator of BBoxProbe is the Data Controller of your data.
DATA PROCESSORS (OR SERVICE PROVIDERS) means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Data Controller. We may use the services of various Service Providers in order to process your data more effectively.
DATA SUBJECT is any living individual who is the subject of Personal Data.
3. Information Collection and Use
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.
Types of Data Collected
Personal Data
While using our Service, we collect the following information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"):
- Your email address and a name: the one from your Google or GitHub profile, or the part of your email address before the @
- If you sign in with Google or GitHub: your account ID there, your profile picture address, and the tokens they issue at sign-in
- If you set a password: a salted hash of it, never the password
- For each sign-in session: the IP address and browser (user agent) it was opened from
- If you subscribe: your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and your plan. Card details go to Stripe; we never see them.
Monitoring Data
The URLs you monitor and their settings (names, cities, intervals, the checks to run, and any headers or logins you enter, which our checkers send to your site), your alert settings and the addresses of your alert channels (Slack, Discord or webhook URLs), your status pages (domain, title, logo address), and the results of every check (up or down, status code, response times, certificate expiry, per city), with the incidents they make up. We don't store the content of the pages we check.
Usage Data
Our hosting provider keeps request logs for us (the address requested, the time and technical details of the request, and the error messages of our code), and we count requests per IP address to stop abuse. Checks that go through bbox.to are recorded with the account they belong to, the IP address that asked, the address checked, the city and the result.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in, and store your light or dark theme in your browser. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party tracking scripts. The Cookie Policy lists them all.
4. Use of Data
BBoxProbe uses the collected data for various purposes:
- To provide and maintain our Service
- To notify you about changes to our Service
- To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Service when you choose to do so
- To provide customer support
- To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Service
- To monitor the usage of our Service
- To detect, prevent and address technical issues
- To fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it
Legal Bases
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on:
- Contract: your account, your monitors and their checks, alerts, status pages, support and billing.
- Legitimate interest: keeping the Service secure and running (request logs, rate limits, abuse prevention), fixing problems, improving the Service, and the public pages on bbox.to that show whether a website is up.
- Consent: newsletters, marketing or promotional emails, only if you choose to receive them. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legal obligation: keeping billing records as tax and accounting law requires.
5. Retention of Data
We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
- Your account, monitors, alert channels and status pages: until your account is deleted.
- Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes; sign-in sessions after 7 days without use.
- Check results: every check for 1 month, then hourly summaries (checks passed and average response time per city) for 3 years. Your plan decides how far back you can see them. When an account is deleted, its check results expire on the same schedule.
- Incidents are kept while your account exists; checks that failed once and passed their re-check, for about 3 years.
- Request logs: a few days. Records of checks through bbox.to: up to 3 months.
6. Transfer of Data
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to – and maintained on – computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
Our website, database and storage are hosted on a global network. Check results are stored on two servers, one in the European Union and one in the United States. To check your sites, the URLs and check settings of your monitors are sent to our checkers in each city you choose, in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. Several of the service providers below are based in the United States.
Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

9. Your Data Protection Rights
Under the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws, you have certain data protection rights. BBoxProbe aims to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete or limit the use of your Personal Data.
