Free plan

Free uptime monitoring, with a status page

The Free plan checks 5 monitors from up to 3 cities each, alerts you only when most of them agree, and gives you a public status page. It needs no card, and commercial use is fine.

What the Free plan includes

Monitors5: websites and APIs (HTTP), server ports (TCP) or domain names (DNS)
ChecksEvery 2 minutes or 5 minutes, from up to 3 cities per monitor, picked from all 15
TimeoutEach city waits up to 3 seconds for an answer
History30 days
MetricsResponse time for the last 24 hours
Status pages1, with incidents, maintenance, email subscribers, a feed, JSON and a badge
Alert channels1: email, Slack, Discord or a webhook. Until you add one, alerts go to your account email

Everything else is the same as on the paid plans: every kind of monitor and check option, every alert (outages, instability, error budget, slow answers, certificates close to expiry), acknowledging alerts and maintenance windows. How it works has the details.

Alerts you can trust

By default a monitor counts as down only when more than half of its cities fail, and at least two of them, two rounds in a row. With 3 cities that means 2 of them, so one city's network trouble doesn't wake you up. The alert names the cities that fail and what each one got.

No card, commercial use included

The Free plan costs nothing and needs no payment details. Use it for your own projects or for a business: commercial use is fine on Free too.

If you stop using your account

On Free, the monitors of an account nobody uses for 90 days are paused, after an email at 60 days and a reminder at 83 days, and never sooner than 30 days after the first email. Signing in, or opening the app in a browser that is still signed in, keeps them running, and after a pause one button resumes them all. Nothing is deleted.

Start in a minute

  1. Sign in with your email address: we email you a link, and there is no password. Or continue with GitHub.
  2. Add a monitor: a URL, a host:port or a domain name. It starts with Frankfurt, Virginia, and Singapore; change them if you like.
  3. Alerts go to your account email right away. Add a Slack, Discord, webhook or email channel if you prefer.
  4. Create your status page at bbox.to/your-name and pick the monitors it shows.
