What the plan terms mean

Monitor
One address BBoxProbe checks: a website or API (HTTP), a server port (TCP) or a domain name (DNS). A paused monitor still counts toward the plan's monitors.
Pausing
A paused monitor isn't checked and sends no alerts. On Free, the monitors of an account nobody uses for 90 days are paused, after an email at 60 days and a reminder at 83 days, and never sooner than 30 days after the first email. Signing in, or opening the app in a browser that is still signed in, counts as use. Nothing is deleted, and after you sign in one click resumes them all. Search engines are asked to leave out a Free account's status pages once nobody has used it for 30 days.
Check interval
How often each of a monitor's cities checks it, picked per monitor. Free: 2 minutes or 5 minutes; Pro: 1 minute, 2 minutes or 5 minutes; Max: 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes or 5 minutes.
Cities per monitor
The cities a monitor is checked from, picked from all 15. By default it counts as down when more than half of them fail two rounds in a row, and at least two when it checks from two or more; both can be changed per monitor.
Timeout
How long each of a monitor's cities waits for an answer before the check counts as failed, set per monitor. A new monitor starts with the most its plan allows. Per plan: Free 3 seconds, Pro 4 seconds and Max 5 seconds.
Alert channel
Where alerts go: an email address, a Slack or Discord channel, or a webhook of your own. Each monitor picks its channels, and with none set up, alerts go to your account email. Per plan: Free 1, Pro 3 and Max 10.
Status page
A public page at bbox.to/your-name that shows how your monitors are doing, with incidents, planned maintenance and email updates for the people who subscribe. Per plan: Free 1, Pro 5 and Max 20.
Your own domain
On Max, a status page can live at a domain of yours, like status.example.com, instead of bbox.to.

Questions about plans and billing

Do I need a card for Free?

No. Free costs nothing and asks for no card: enter your email address, and the link we send signs you in.

Is there a free trial?

No, as Free costs nothing. Commercial use is fine on Free too.

Who takes the payment?

You pay Stripe, the merchant of record for BBoxProbe: it works out any sales tax or VAT for your country at checkout and sends your receipts. We never see your card.

What happens when I upgrade?

An upgrade starts at once, and what is left of your current period counts toward the new plan.

What happens when I downgrade or cancel?

It takes effect when the period you paid for ends, and nothing is deleted. Monitors over the new plan's limit are paused (the oldest stay on), faster intervals slow to the fastest it allows, cities over its limit drop off a monitor, and longer timeouts shorten to the longest it allows. Extra status pages stop being public, extra alert channels are turned off, and your own domain is removed when the plan has none. After an upgrade you can resume, republish or turn them on again.

Do you refund unused time?

Time you don't use isn't refunded, apart from the cases in the refund policy.

Is there an uptime guarantee?

No. BBoxProbe comes with no service level agreement (SLA). The terms of service have the details.
